The Islesboro Forum welcomes you to its Summer 2025 season. We are pleased to offer six outstanding programs on the six consecutive Sunday evenings beginning on July 13 and continuing through August 17, 2025. The one-hour programs start at 5:30 pm at the Islesboro Community Center. We invite all islanders to attend and participate interactively in the Question and Answer portion of the program that follows the speaker’s presentation. 

July 13 – Nirval Dinesh Shah, Former Acting Director of CDC “Lessons Learned from Covid and other Epidemics; Are we ready for the Next One?”

July 20 – The Honorable William Taylor former Ambassador to Ukraine “Russia’s War on Ukraine: An Update”

July 27 – Ted Ames, Founder of Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries and MacArthur Genius Award Recipient. MCCF’s Goal—“Fish Forever”

August 3 –Micaela Schweitzer-Bluhm, Kate Coug and Rose Lundy ” Local journalism that matters: how The Maine Monitor is keeping Mainers informed and meeting the moment”

August 10 – Professor Michael Mann, Presidential Distinguished Professor of Earth & Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania, Tyler Prize recipient and co-author of the forthcoming book “Science Under Siege: How to Fight the Five Most Powerful Forces that Threaten Our World”

August 17 – Kate Zernike, N Y Times Science Writer and author of “The Exceptions: The Fight for Women in Science” 

The Islesboro Forum’s expenses, which include modest expenditures for technical production, website maintenance, room rental at the Islesboro Community Center, publicity and ferry or water taxi travel by our speakers, are covered through the generosity of donors like yourselves who value the Forum’s contribution to island life.
